The Week That Was: May 1-5

May Showers and May Flowers

The rainfall this past week was enough to get Noah excited but a big hassle for the rest of us. Our hearts go out to all those affected by area flooding. Bright sunshine is on tap for the entire weekend, so enjoy all the beauty and growth after the rain.

Crazy Capitol Sprint to the Finish

Check your Capitol Connection for all the latest news, but even then all bets are off during the last mad dash toward the budget being approved and the session coming to a close. Katie, Vicki and the entire legislative team have been monitoring news like a hawk and keeping members in the know. Watch for a full summary and analysis through more official channels once things wrap up and the dome empties for the summer.

What’s on Your Plate?

Eating well and nutritiously is a big factor in your health and wellness. But it’s so hard to do in our social, fast paced society. The Dental Well Being Foundation wants to help you by providing resources and dialogue on the topic. Thus, nutrition is the feature topic for May in the Wheel into Wellness Campaign. If you haven’t checked out the site yet, give it go and see how it can benefit you and your team. You may even win a brand new trail bike!

MOMOM Everywhere You Look

In just 5 weeks we will be tooth deep into MOMOM 6 in Joplin. Many exciting plans are coming together, but it all hinges on solid participation from dentists. Please consider joining us for one volunteer shift. And if this June just doesn’t work for you, please mark your calendars for August 3-4, 2018 in Kirksville for MOMOM 7. I had dinner this week in La Plata with the 2018 co-chairs, Dr. Tisha Kice-Briggs and Dr. Amanda Fitzpatrick. Their enthusiasm is high as they serve their neighbors and host the first MOMOM north of I-70.

On the Road

Vicki and MDA President, Dr. Prabu Raman journeyed to Springfield Thursday night for the officer installation banquet of the Greater Springfield Dental Society. Thanks to Dr. Lisa Castleman for her year of service as president and best wishes to Dr. Nick Hein as he assumes the gavel.

Quote of the Week in honor of Cinco de Mayo
