The Week That Was: January 10-14

MDA Member Honored with National Award

This week news broke that Dr. Jeff Dalin from the Greater S.t Louis Dental Society was selected as the ADA’s recipient for the 2022 Humanitarian Award for his 20 years developing and guiding the Give Kids A Smile program from a local outreach to a national event. That’s big-time recognition and well deserved. I have always enjoyed the positive energy Dr. Dalin shares with others and his vision to grow a program that is so enjoyable and helpful to children. It’s great to see one of our own in the spotlight. I know you join me in spraying confetti and raising a toast. Read the full story from ADA here.

Where Did My Money Go? Watch Out for Embezzlement

Our MDA Virtual Series, Winter Wednesdays, kicked off this week with a great free CE hour on embezzlement. Phil Nieto from Best Card was our speaker and he outlined all the sneaky ways money can be stolen from your practice. Plus he provided some good tips on how to spot theft and prevent it. A rapt crowd of 25 took it all in and then, Dr. Jody Vance was the lucky winner of a $50 gift card. It was a power hour on hump day. Interested parties can watch the recorded version by contacting Mandy Lewis at the MDA. You can check out the details for our final two offerings on January 19 and 26 and register here.

The Week Ahead

The MDA office will be closed Monday to observe MLK day. We have the second Winter Wednesday installment on January 19. And I see plenty of staff meetings and calls as the workload brims over on many fronts. Never a dull moment. Stay safe in this Omicron wave and hopefully some travel will kick up and we can feature some member photos.

Quote of the Week

“How can I share this award with all of the people I work with here in St. Louis?” — Dr. Dalin upon hearing of his honor.
