MDA Virtual Double Dip
This week we held two more webinars as part of the MDA Virtual CE series for members.
On Tuesday, we had a very practical presentation on handling stress in the office due to the pandemic. All reports indicate that this issue is only going to become more prevalent. Marsha Stone and Joe Roller from BRC Healthcare in Texas did an excellent job identifying with everyday dental office issues. I believe the resources as well as our Voluntary Wellness Program should be at your fingertips during this stressful season.
On Thursday we hosted a presentation on ADA’s Practice Transition (ADAPT) program. Dr. Suzanne Ebert explained the role and rising need for mentorship and how this customized program matches dentists in all career phases—from first job to selling the practice—with other dentists who share the same philosophy of practice. It’s very intriguing and worth some investigation.
All MDA Virtual webinars are free offerings and provide good content and 1 hour of CE credit. Plus you can win a prize. This week, Dr. Amanda Fitzpatrick and Dr. Joel Pratt both won $50 gift cards just for participating. If you missed any of these programs, you can watch the recordings here.
Early Bird Winners Snag $100 Worms
It’s membership renewal season, and I can’t imagine moving forward in uncertain times without the support and resources that the tripartite membership offers you. To help reward those members on auto renew or who pay online before we have to mail statements, we held a contest over 10 days, from which 348 members qualified and 7 lucky folks won $100 gift cards courtesy of our friends at MDIS, Med Pro and Heldebrandt Consulting. Thank you all participants and congratulations to the following who will enjoy a little extra holiday cash: Drs. Jennifer Boain, Gerard Krueger, Tyman Loveless, Vince Rapini, John Vogl, Richard Alvarez and Chase Kelly.
Legislative Day Plans Move Ahead
COVID continues to prevent large, in-person gatherings, but that doesn’t mean we can’t gather in mass online. Make plans to join the virtual MDA Town Hall on Tuesday, January 26 at 6pm. We will hear from legislative leaders and share our MDA agenda for the year. Keep abreast of plans and register right here. This week we were filming a video with Olivia Wilson, our new MDA Legislative Liaison, that members will see next week when the official invite goes out. Advocacy is always a valued member benefit and now you can participate easier than ever without having to miss work or spend travel time.
St. Louis Shares the Love with Dental Students
I’ve mentioned our efforts to connect with dental students virtually via our Food for Thought webinars. And next week we will share the winners of our video contest. But I want to shout out GSLDS staff for their efforts to connect locally with MOSDOH D3 and D4 students. They found a way to distribute cookies and cocoa mugs to students over the fall as a well-intended pick me up even when they couldn’t spend extended time together. These kind gestures go along way, and I salute the creativity of the local staff. Every good impression make a difference when they consider organized dentistry in the future.
The Week Ahead
More focus on dental students highlights next week. We have an Award Night Zoom to crown our video contest winners, and I will be in Kirksville Friday to help NEDS members pass out free lunches during exams to MOSDOH D1 and D2 students.
