Last night the MDA pioneered their first-ever virtual CE offering in lieu of canceling the Connect4Success conference this year. The goal was to engage members with some unique content and create some semblance of being together. I think it was a big success. More than 40 people joined the webinar live. They got to hear from MDA President, Dr. Mike Berry, and MDA Executive Director, Vicki Wilbers. Dr. Nathan Suter delivered a very informative and interesting presentation on Teledentistry. We also heard from our sponsor, MDIS and exhibit partner Army Medical Recruiting. We even gave away a Ninja Blender and $50 gift card. Congrats to winner, Dr. Ed Stephens.
CE cards were emailed out to participants. If you missed it or wish to view it again, it’s free for members and their staff and it’s just $50 for non-members. To view it, you must register here. We also have two more sessions. June 18 features a panel talking about practice issues post COVID and June 25 will feature Dr. Erick Jansson on endodontic issues. You can sign up and join us here. Hopefully this new casual and dental family-oriented approach will provide even more value for your membership.
Friday is for Meetings
Most of this week was fairly muted but today it’s been a beehive of activity. First the MDA Board Finance Committee met for a review of the 2021 budget. Then the MDIS Board gathered for ongoing discussions and adjustments. I also joined in a Missouri Coalition for Oral Health conference call about a funding opportunity for more teledentistry development. COVID may limit our mobility but the work of the association – just like the flow of your dental practice – rolls on.
Only 25 tickets remain. Do you feel lucky?
The wild and wooly raffle fundraiser known as Connect4Cash still has a few tickets available. We sell only 100 chances. Your $100 ticket funds the awesome projects of the MDA Foundation and it gives you a chance to win $1,500 cash. All ticket holders will receive instructions for our live Boom Zoom happy hour at 7:15pm on June 25 when the last number drawn is the big winner. Buy your ticket here.
The Week Ahead
Looks like we will gear up for session two of our virtual C4S offerings on Thursday, June 18 at 6pm. That same night the Greater Springfield Dental Society will install their new officers. I’m sorry I can’t be there to celebrate. And work will continue on a new project to inventory all MOMOM supplies for better control, storage and transport because one day we will have another free clinic for our neighbors.
