Virtual But Still Valid
A big shout out to all our Missouri dental students who graduated today in the most unusual and memorable fashion. ATSU MOSDOH had a virtual ceremony this morning and the wonderful Dean, Dr. Dwight McLeod, addressed the graduates. Later tonight UMKC SOD plans a live event via Vimeo. I know this is not how any student wanted to end their career and mark this major achievement, but however it happens, it still means now are a dentist! I speak for the entire MDA in offering kudos and a warm welcome to the profession and organized dentistry.
Online And On Track
This afternoon the MDA Board held its spring meeting via Zoom. It was a new wrinkle that went surprisingly well. The MDA team prepped in advance to figure out how to manage discussion and take votes. It was impressive to see the trustees adapt to new technology in order to continue to lead. In these times that leadership is more important than ever.
Session Over at 6pm – MDA remains strong!
Shantel reports from the Capitol that elected officials in both chambers have been meeting almost around the clock to finish the state’s business before the mandatory deadline of 6pm tonight. As a testament to the hard work of the entire MDA Legislative Team, it appears as though our complete agenda will be approved. Having members like you engage in VoterVoice makes a big difference too. This week more than 181 of you responded in quick fashion to make your voice heard.
The Week Ahead
Lots more of the usual (which is no longer usual) is on the calendar. I’m excited about a webinar just for UMKC, ATSU and SIU dental students that focuses on board exam and licensure issues. This is very timely, and it’s imperative we help these new dentists as they launch into careers. The value of membership is higher than ever.
Joke of the Week
I was going to tell a toilet paper joke but I couldn’t find any.
