The Week That Was – January 7-11

Snow Delay!

This blogger is not under the same performance motto of the US Mail: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

My appointed round to file this report last Friday never happened thanks to SnowMeggedon 1. I left the Greater Kansas City CE course at 12:40, leery of the impending weather. It proved to be not a minute too soon, as it took me 3 hours to get home. Once there, I hunkered down for the weekend and watched the snow pile up to make what I like to call a 12” Patio Table Cake. Anyway, I hope you are safe and sound and didn’t go too long without power. The snow didn’t stop the Chiefs from a big victory and it looks like SnowMeggedon 2 might arrive in time for the AFC Title Game.

Healthy Dentists Needed

I was in Kansas City for the David Meinz lecture on “32 Teeth and 100 Birthdays”. GKCDS did a good job with strong sponsor support and good member turnout. Mr. Meinz was engaging and challenging about new healthy developments and suggestions for better health including 7 keys to longevity. Unfortunately I had to leave halfway through and missed the last key, so that sucks for my own longevity! All kidding aside, it’s always great to be with members and vendors and see the association work at the local level. Be sure you check out your next local dental society meeting.

Off and Running in St. Joe

It’s time again to crank up the MOMOM machine. This time in St. Joe and with Drs. Tim Curry and Tim Taylor at the helm. Last Thursday was the local launch event. I salute NWDS for a great turnout, as more than 40 area dentists and influential community members (including the mayor) attended a reception to learn about the work ahead. We were exactly 217 days from set up. It will be here before you know it. The day was a big success as we had some media interest, we toured the Civic Center with ADCF rep, Jordan Mcatee, and we reviewed roles for the road ahead. Each MOMOM is different and, yet, the same. I look forward to working with a vibrant new community and seeing how our one-day clinic works on Friday, August 16, 2019.

The Week Ahead (Or The Week Now)

While lots is going on in the office, the main focus is preparing for board meeting and all the legislative activities next week. Watch here for a brief update this Friday as I try to resume my regular publication schedule.
