Any faithful reader of this blog will know we haven’t posted in 3 weeks. We’ve been a little busy. One of those weeks was MOMOM. One was Connect4Success. And then there’s this week which marks the beginning of various staff vacations and unusual summer scheduling. Our staff family has diverse interests and needs time to recharge as well. Katie just returned from Colorado. Stacey just left for Mexico and Melissa is wrapping up rodeo week with the family in Nashville. With all that in mind, this blog will have its own unpredictable schedule for postings over the next two months.
MOMOM 6 A Big Success
Thanks to all the faithful volunteers and sponsors who delivered another great clinic. We treated 1,250 patients and delivered $800k in free care. Patient response was overwhelmingly positive and grateful. Joplin and MSSU were great hosts and plans are already in motion for MOMOM 7 in Kirksville August 3-4, 2018. Look in your next Focus for a recap or check out one of many news stories like this. And here a few photos as well. Thanks again and MOMOM ON!
Connect4Success Rocks On
This special conference for New Dentists may not be the largest of events, but it is a highlight of the year. The casual setting at the Lake of the Ozarks mixed with the bright new wave of membership (sprinkled with some sponsors and past presidents) makes for a great event. Attendees had CE designed by them, and in some cases presented by peers. There was plenty of time to connect and relax – plus who doesn’t love some Jenga and good raffle prizes? Next year the whole MDA will be invited to join Connect4Success as we roll out our new plan for replacing Winter Session. Forget the snow, and come enjoy the same great CE under the sun. New Dentists will still have their own educational track, but we will all share in meals and social opportunities. Details to come; for now, save the date for June 15-16, 2018.
Live Report from MCOH
Currently Vicki and Katie are attending the Missouri Coalition for Oral Health Annual Meeting and MDA member Dr. Michael McCunniff is being recognized for his service as chairman of the board. This diverse statewide group has an ambitious mission to improve oral health for all Missourians through sound public policy and public awareness.
In the Office
It’s exciting to hear our new tenants down the hall using our boardroom. The Missouri Nurses Association has been settling into their space downstairs and providing good non-dues revenue for the MDA. I look forward to that partnership growing.
