It’s always a good day when something long sought after arrives in a positive manner. Such is today with the appointment of Dr. William T. Kane to the Missouri Dental Board (MDB). It’s a sunny day. It’s a happy day. It’s a today to start anew.
I was privileged to join MDA Executive Director, Vicki Wilbers at Dr. Kane’s Senate Confirmation Hearing this morning. Dr. Kane was put forth by his local senator, Doug Libla. Also in attendance was Representative Tila Rowland from Dr. Kane’s hometown of Dexter and Brian Barnett, Executive Director of the MDB. The hearing was brief, but the committee commented on Dr. Kane’s impressive resume and his commitment to the Well Being Program. He sailed right on through in less than three minutes – if you don’t count the several years of submitting an application and pursuing an appointment for one of the open seats. His long wait is over.
Certainly having a seasoned, informed and compassionate voice on the MDB is a boon to all. I know the MDA salutes the appointment and is proud of Dr. Kane. On a personal level, I work with Dr. Kane closely as he chairs the Dental Well Being Foundation. The DWBF has been through a big positive transition with him at the helm, and many good things are still to come. He works tirelessly to promote transparency and healing and backs it up with his speaking engagements and his Smiles of HOPE monthly clinic in Dexter. He’s one of the good guys, and I was delighted to be part of this long-awaited day.
